Measure And Mark The Wall And Attach Tiles
Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the section that will be used to create a backsplash. Clean the marked section with all-purpose cleaning spray and a sponge. Purchase enough ceramic tiles to cover the marked section. Select tile colors that will complement the furnishings or decorations that are located in the kitchen. Use a foam brush to apply an even coat of tile adhesive to the back of each tile.
Line up the tiles evenly across the marked section. Press each one firmly against the wall until they are all secure. Use a pair of tile cutters to cut tiles that will be placed along the edge of the backsplash if whole ones will not fit. Before using the tile cutters, use a pencil to mark the portion of each tile that will be eliminated. Once the backsplash has been installed, wait the required amount of time for the tile adhesive to dry.
Apply Sand Grout In Between Tiles
Mix sand grout and water in a bucket, according to the instructions listed on the grout's packaging. Apply a thin, even layer of grout to the edge of a trowel. Insert the trowel between tiles that make up the backsplash. Smooth out the surface of the grout with a putty knife and use a damp sponge to wipe away any grout that accidentally spills on the tiles. Wait for the grout to harden. This may not occur for several hours. Sand grout will not shrink or come loose if it is exposed to high temperatures or moisture once it has dried.
Maintain The Backsplash
Use a soapy cloth to clean the surface of each tile whenever they become stained. Dry tiles with a lint-free cloth when finished. As long as you do not use any abrasive cleaning agents or tools, the backsplash will remain damage-free and continue to enhance the appearance of your kitchen for years.
