Tips To Redecorate Your Space
Redecorating your home can be very frustrating. You may be the type that wants and cannot afford, or the type that wants, but doesn't know how to go about the redecorating process. Redecorating doesn't have to cost you a lot of money, sometimes, all it takes is moving around the things you already have, and adding just a handful of new decor elements. See below for some tips on how to redecorate your space.
Look Around
Take a look around the room you want to redecorate. If you want to redecorate your entire house, you can do so, but take it one room at a time. Redecorating your entire home all at once can be a very stressful task, and may prove to be too much.
Look around the room you are planning on redecorating and look at everything you have. Think about what you want to keep and what you can live without, and take a mental note.
Find Inspiration
You may already have an image in your mind of what you want your room to look like, if not, look at magazine photos, or on-line photos. Think about what colors you want in your room, and what type of decor you want, industrial chic, country, cottage, modern, or traditional. It's OK to look at magazine photos that may be out of your league. You can find budget elements that mimic those same decorative elements in expensive magazines. Find what you love, and then go from there.
Get Rid Of Excess
Think back to the mental note you made earlier of what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of. Then begin taking out those items you don't want. Donate gently used items, or have a garage sale. Throw anything away that is heavily used or broken. If you aren't thrilled about these items, get them out of your house. Don't move them to another room, get rid of them entirely.
Once you have everything out that you don't want, take everything else out of the room, so you have a blank canvas to work with.
Begin Redecorating
It's time to start working. This may be the hardest part, other than getting rid of the excess. For some, changing a room is difficult to do. Start with paint, then move to the largest items in the room. Once you have paint and furniture, begin adding your decorative elements. Look back to your magazine and on-line photos for your inspiration. Look at cheaper craft stores and dollar stores to find some of those same decorative elements that are more budget friendly. For instance, you may like a beautiful flower arrangement in the magazine photo, but it's way out of your budget. Make your own, by finding those same flowers at the craft store.
Redecorating your home doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, and doesn't have to be too stressful. Take it slow, find exactly what you want before you begin, and enjoy your new decor. You can also check out stores like Jackson Interior Design & Furnishing Company for more ideas and information.
